LaDonna Eriksen – Vice President Education Content & Advancement

LaDonna Eriksen, CLIPP #189, has been an educator all of her life. She has extensive education experience with over 41 years of teaching with the final 24 years at the Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska teaching Anatomy/Physiology and Genetics to Health Care pre-professionals. Her extensive knowledge of how the human body functions is what she attributes to much of her understanding of how correct design is invaluable to making a home accessible, healthy, and safe.

Her involvement with design and construction began in 1985. She has worked with many clients creating beautiful, yet functional environments in their homes. She is especially proud of her work in the area of developing kitchens and bathrooms. LaDonna used many of her past unusual concepts in designing her own newly constructed home and has established many outside-of-the-box designs and solutions that surprised craftsmen working on the house. To make lives easier and better for her clients, she incorporates many smart technology features in her designs.

LaDonna served on the NKBA Nebraska/Kansas Board for 11 years and is a Living In Place Institute Ambassador.

Other Living In Place Institute Team Members, Spokespeople and Brand Ambassadors will be posted soon.

Barbara Barton, CLIPP #4 – LIPI Emeritus Advisor

Barbara has over 35 years of experience in the Kitchen and Bath Industry, having attained the prestigious Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer. She has worked for several Kitchen/Bath dealerships, managing a Bathroom Showroom for five years and then 15 years in the Appliance industry. Since the year 2000, Barbara has grown her own Independent Designer business in the remodeling area and focusing on the Boomer target market. She was one of the first Designers in Colorado to earn the Certified Aging in Place Specialist, CAPS designation in 1992.

Having won a local First Place award for a Universal Design Bathroom in 2015 inspired her to continue in the specialty that has impacted so many clients. She became the fourth person nationally to receive the new Certification of Living in Place Professional, CLIPP training in 2015. Attending several CLIPP trainings and being on their Advisory Board since its inception has broadened the scope, examples, and impact of this vision for our industry.

Thru the CLIPP training, collaborations with Occupational Therapists, Interior Designers, Contractors, Home Inspectors and Real Estate professionals have broadened her resources and knowledge affecting our Kitchen and Bath Industry. She has been newly inspired and wants to continue to serve our profession as well as our homeowners.

Barbara will be retiring in December 2021. We at the Living In Place Institute have benefitted immensely from her knowledge, guidance, and enthusiasm during our first 7 years. We will very much miss her involvement in the Living In Place Institute and we collectively wish Barbara all the best in her next chapter of life and look forward to seeing her upcoming accomplishments.
