HATS Agenda

• All classes are on-demand and required. Total class time is approximately 5 hours.
• There are brief quizzes after each class with a required passing grade of 75%.

All course and activity records are kept by the Living In Place Institute for seven years. This may include items such as:

• Pre-Registration & Registration Materials
• Contractual Agreements
• Attendance Records
• Quizzes and Examination Records
• Certification Records
• Training materials

Records may either be stored as physical records or electronically with off-site storage (at a separate physical facility or through cloud-based storage).

Only the Living In Place Institute has access to registrant records, unless required for CEU auditing, by court order, etc.

Attendee information, such as name, email, etc. may be shared with event sponsors.

If a prior class attendee requests a record of their attendance, they must submit a request in writing by clicking HERE.

Registration:

You must take the appropriate class for you profession. For reference, see FAQ #5 above.

As our classes are On-Demand, you can start taking the classes immediately after registering.

ON-SITE CLIPP & LIPA COURSES ONLY

Registration:

• Registration closes 11:59 PM ET, about two calendar weeks prior to the class for Continental U.S. mailing addresses.
• Optional black & white printed manual and/or an Experiential Meal kit may be ordered about two calendar weeks prior to the class for Continental U.S. mailing addresses, and 3 weeks prior for most international addresses plus applicable extra shipping fees.
• Late registrations may be allowed with advance written permission. Please contact us by clicking HERE.

Course Completion Requirements – As we want you to get the most out of our training, we have a requirement that you will need to complete your course within 60 days of registration. If you need more time to complete the training, there is a US$129 fee for another 60 days.  Please reach out to Info@LivingInPlace.Institute with any questions.

You will have access to the video training sessions and the eManual for 1 year from your registration.

Changes – all changes require prior written approval by clicking HERE

• To change an existing registration date.
• Transferring registration to another person.

Cancellation & Refunds

• If the Living in Place Institute postpone or cancels a Live-In Person class, the Registrant may choose:
  • A new class at no additional fee.
  • A 100% refund (paid within 14 business days) to their original payment method.
• If the Registrant does not attend a Live-In Person class without advance notification:
  • Registrant is responsible for the full original registration fee.
  • Registrant is required to return any and all course materials shipped to them at their expense.

The Living In Place Institute Exclusive Satisfaction Guarantee

CLIPP – If within 60 days of taking Class #1 or anytime through Class #2 (whichever occurs first), you find that you are NOT satisfied with either the CLIPP program, please contact us by clicking HERE and we will refund your original registration fee, less any discounts. If you purchased a printed manual, simply return the manual and we will refund your money once we receive it, less US$75 for shipping and handling. NOTE: The refund, shipping and handling pricing terms are subject to change.

HATS – If within 60 days of registering for the HATS class or anytime through Class #4 – Part A (whichever occurs first) that you are NOT satisfied with the program, simply click HERE and we will refund your original registration fee. NOTE: The refund terms are subject to change.

As we want you to benefit as much as possible from your Living In Place Institute credential, you have 60 calendar days from when you register to when you finish the CLIPP or HATS program. If you do not finish in this period of time, there will be a US$125 fee to give you another 60 calendar days to finish it. This fee does not apply to individuals taking their respective Refresher class.

You will still have access to the On-Demand videos for a full year from when you registered for your program.

Certified Living In Place Professional (CLIPP) – During the final session of your class, you will take an electronic exam and you see your score immediately. If you achieve a passing score of 75% or more, you will be immediately CLIPP certified. If you do not pass the Final Exam, you will be notified of the reexamination process.

There are no additional fees. Every graduate is emailed a Graduation Certificate with your name, credential number, and completion date, plus a certificate of the Living In Place Institute Code Ethics and Conduct.

Home & Accessibility Trade Specialist (HATS) – After each class, you will take a quiz and if you achieve a passing score of 75% or more, you can then continue to the next required class. If you do not pass any quiz, you may retake the quiz immediately. At the end of all classes and quizzes, you will be immediately awarded be HATS credentialed, receive your graduation certificate with your name, credential number, completion date, plus a certificate of the Living In Place Institute Code of Ethics and Conduct.

As recognized and credentialed by the Living In Place Institute, I agree to:

1. Hold paramount the welfare of persons I serve professionally,
2. Practice only in my area(s) of expertise and/or licensure, maintain high standards, and perform in a moral and lawful manner,
3. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information,
4. Not engage in any conduct that constitutes a conflict of interest or adversely reflects on the Living In Place Institute,
5. Broadly expand my professional practice and knowledge,
6. Seek deserved and reasonable compensation for my services,
7. Inform and educate the industry and public on Living In Place Institute practices and systems,
8. Issue public statements in an objective and truthful manner,
9. Comply with the laws and policies that guide my professional practice,
10. Abide by all the Living In Place Policies & Procedures, and
11. Hold the Living In Place Institute harmless for all causes and issues.

Presenters and presentations require prior written approval from the Living In Place Institute.

The Living In Place Institute requires the following Professional Conduct & Requirements from its Presenters:

• Presenter will inform in writing and request written approval from the Living In Place Institute any proprietary interest in any product, instrument, device, service, or material discussed during their presentation, and the source of any compensation.
• Presenter is compliant with copyright laws and has ownership or permission to use all materials used in conjunction with the presentation and will hold harmless the Living In Place Institute.
• Presenter will demonstrate high standards of professional conduct and not discriminate in accordance with the Living In Place Institute Non-Discrimination Policy.

The Living In Place Institute does not discriminate against anyone based on their race, color, creed, age, physical challenges, gender, national origin, religion, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, parental status, income, or other criteria.

All Programs, as well as any printed or electronic materials, will be presented in English. The Living In Place Institute will make reasonable efforts to translate materials into other languages or transcription into braille if the registrant or sponsor pays the cost of translation and/or transcription services.

Information Release Agreement (Release)

 HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

WHEREAS class attendee (Attendee), the party who is attending any course or training program (Class) conducted by the Living In Place Institute, LLC (LIPI), the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned jointly and severally agrees to indemnify and hold harmless LIPI and their agents, heirs, assigns or successors along with same of the entity that may be hosting the Class (Host) where LIPI conducts its training sessions and holds all entities harmless and indemnifies LIPI and Host and any of their agents, heirs, assigns or successors and assigns from any liabilities, losses, claims judgements, suits, fines, penalties, demands or expenses, including, but not limited to, all reasonable costs for defense and investigation thereof (including but not limited to attorney fees, court costs and experts fees) claimed by Attendee by reason of injury or damage to persons or property sustained in or around the course and/or activities that LIPI conducts, especially, but not limited to the Experiential Meal, as a proximate result of the acts or omissions LIPI, its agents, heirs, successors and assigns or arising out of the operation or actions of Attendee, except when such liability may result from the sole neglect of LIPI, its officers, directors, agents, servants and/or employees; provided however, that upon the filing of any claim by the Attendee with LIPI for damages arising out of incidents for which Attendee herein agrees to hold LIPI and Host harmless, then and in that event Attendee shall notify LIPI and Host of such claim and LIPI and/or Host shall have the right to settle, compromise, and/or defend the same.

A key aspect of Class is the Experiential Meal (Meal) that LIPI conducts, where the Attendee voluntarily agrees to participate in the activities associated with Class. This will include being assigned various limiting circumstances and/or devices that may affect, but not be limited to, vision, hearing, mobility, sense of touch as well as other possible challenges, along with the use of various tools and/or cutlery to prepare Meal. The Attendee can choose to not participate in Meal or other activities, and this will have no effect on their participation in the course or completing it, and/or other activities.

Utensils, Presence of Others and the Meal Can Be Hazardous. The Attendee understands and agrees that making Meal may be a dangerous activity with hazards such as sharp knives or other sharp instruments, as well as using items that may alter Attendee’s vision. For In-Person events, danger from other Attendees may also exist as may dangers inherent in traveling to and from the Meal. Attendee will make known to the instructor any food allergies and takes sole responsibility for the management of such allergies. Attendee has carefully listened to all instructions from LIPI regarding these and other hazards and agrees to abide by all Meal rules for the safety of Attendee and others. Attendee is solely responsible for his/her own safety in Meal and if injury should occur, Attendee is solely responsible for obtaining and paying for medical care for such injury.

 Release by Attendee. Attendee, by agreeing to Release, fully assumes all risk of property damage and personal injury in connection with Attendee’s participation in Class, and Attendee, and Attendee’s heirs and assigns, hereby fully and forever releases LIPI, its employees, officers, directors and agents, from any and all claims, actions, causes of actions, damages, demands, obligations, expenses (including costs of investigation and legal fees) which Attendee may now have or which Attendee may have in the future arising out of Attendee participation Class.

Understanding by Attendee. Attendee has carefully read Release and fully understands its contents. Attendee is aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between Attendee and LIPI, and Attendee agrees to this Release on their own free will.

MEDIA / CONTACT INFORMATION RELEASE AGREEMENT

I understand my photos, videos, comments, and any testimonials (written, video, etc.) (Information) is freely made on behalf of LIPI may be used in connection with publicizing and promoting LIPI. I authorize LIPI and its agents to use my name, brief biographical information, photos, videos, comments, etc. and Information listed and written above.

I hereby irrevocably authorize LIPI and its agents to use, copy, exhibit, publish or distribute Information for purposes of publicizing LIPI programs or for any other lawful purpose. Information may be used in printed publications, multimedia presentations, social media, on websites or in any other distribution media. I agree that I will make no monetary or other claim against LIPI for the use of Information.

In addition, I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written copy, wherein my likeness or my Information appears.

I hereby hold harmless and release LIPI and its agents from all claims, demands and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.

I understand that my contact information, which includes, but is not limited to, my name, company information, physical address(es), phone number(s) email address(es), company website(s), social media contact information, etc., may be shared with other individuals, companies and/or trade associations. I also understand that I may receive periodic communications from either LIPI, from other CLIPP members or the Host Company. I can choose to at any time to not be included on this list either by contacting LIPI.

I understand this Combined Hold Harmless & Media/Contact Information Release Agreement and give my consent.

For Class #1, you have the option to either make your own Experiential Meal Kit or purchase one during the registration process. If you wish to make your own, click HERE – NOTE: This will download a PDF file that you will need to open.

If you have completed your registration and want to purchase an Experiential Meal Kit, use THIS LINK. There is a minimum 2-week shipping time prior to attending Class #1. The Living In Place Institute strives to accommodate all individuals in our classes, seminars, and activities. For In-Person classes or events, we will try our best to comply with all requests sent at least three weeks in advance by clicking HERE.

We will make every effort to ensure the facility may be able to accommodate the following:
