CMKBD, CLIPP 2015 NKBA National President Tewksbury Kitchen and Bath
A real game-changer. Honestly, I don't know how someone in my profession can do what we do without the knowledge that this class imparted.

There are a number of benefits of CLIPP, in particular the pathway for promotion and teaming with other pros, and the assessment tool.

I have had my CLIPP certification for about 2 ½ years. I talked to several friends and coworkers that had other certifications prior to taking the class. They not feel they were beneficial and many had let them lapse. I have felt just the opposite and apply my CLIPP training every day. I do several kitchen and bathroom projects every year and I always make suggestions to enhance the accessibility and safety of those spaces. I also discuss other areas of the home to improve access and safety. Most of our clients appreciate the information shared and often add to the scope of work.
OT/R, CLIPP
As an OT, what stood out to me immediately about the CLIPP course was an obvious and tangible respect for interprofessional collaborations, advocacy for utilizing the appropriate personnel, and a great appreciation for the unique expertise and perspective of an OT in this area of practice. It was perhaps one of the few times that I did not need to fight for my seat at the table during a continuing education course. if anything, my presence was celebrated, and the opportunity to learn along side other potential team members in such an equalizing environment allowed for a fantastic atmosphere and chances to network further.
Even OTs who hold other home modification related certifications would benefit from this course. I held my CAPS certification, worked in geriatric home health for many years, and created a doctoral project around home modifications for seniors before taking the course. Despite all my advanced study, I found there was even more to learn since CLIPP takes a different perspective and was created to complement other programs already available. They truly mean it when they say that professionals should take all the classes they can to learn everything possible about the topic. What I find most valuable for us is how to curriculum revolves around solutions. You will learn so much about different design solutions and products beyond what we are exposed to in other courses and in our general OT education. I also enjoy the fact the curriculum is constantly updated to reflect innovations in the field.
CLIPP
The first time that I heard about Living in Place was at KBIS 2017 and I immediately wanted to become involved since I had been working with customers trying to find ways to make their homes more accessible, comfortable and safe for over fifteen years. I have always felt that the ADA codes that were dominant in commercial construction should have a carry-over version to the residential code. It has always been my belief that people should not have to go home and struggle to move around in their homes because the home builders don’t want to bother with accessibility, but their work environment must be completely accessible.
Making a home accessible birth to death is very important so people can stay in their home in their familiar surroundings instead of a facility for those with challenges or the aging population. The changes made to their home is money well spent instead of the 2-3 months that it would pay for in a care facility. What Living in Place has done for me as a designer and remodeling contractor is to give me a handbook to make sure that every home that I work on is accessible, comfortable and safe. The CLIPP certification means a lot to my customers when I explain to them that I make homes accessible, comfortable and safe for everyone birth to death.

As a architectural designer who favorite aesthetic is modernism, I am always looking for solutions for my clients who want tor remain in their homes and for clients who have all sorts of special need and for clients who have visitors who may have needs that they don’t have.
That’s why the CLIPP certification was so attractive to me because they came up with so many solutions that I would have never thought of that allow me to design and keep things aesthetically beautiful.

Thank you for all you did to make our CLIPP class awesome! I’m truly grateful for the entire experience for Nick, Ernie, and me. We all learned a lot and I’ve already implemented many things that we learned with my current projects. It’s been fun listening to Nick and Ernie talk about changes in their approaches to doing things.
While it seems like I’m on a quest to have as many letters behind my name as possible, I’m very proud of CLIPP because it better represents me and what we do than any other. The curriculum you’ve developed is outstanding, and I’m thoroughly impressed with the content and, most of all, compassion. I feel relieved, frankly, that your curriculum is there so that I do not have to train others as to the importance of why something should be done to help a client. As you know, my passion to serve and to teach is strong, and it stems from my family’s journey with our daughter Cassi. If I can help you in any way, please let me know.
